How to play
Tango Game is a sun-and-moon logic puzzle: fill every cell of the grid with a sun or a moon so that every rule holds at once.
Objective
Fill every empty cell with a sun or a moon so that each row and column holds as many suns as moons, no three identical symbols sit next to each other in a line, every = and × marker holds, and the given symbols stay as they are.
Rules
Balance each line
Every row and every column holds as many suns as moons: three of each on the 6×6 board. Once a line has three of one symbol, the rest of that line takes the other.
No three in a row
Never place three identical symbols next to each other in a row or column. Two side by side are fine, and diagonals do not count.
= joins matching cells
Two cells joined by = hold the same symbol: both suns or both moons.
× joins opposite cells
Two cells joined by × hold different symbols: one sun and one moon.
Given symbols are fixed
The symbols on the board when a puzzle starts are part of the puzzle. You cannot change or clear them, and the = and × markers never change.
Placing symbols
Press Play on the puzzle’s cover to show the board and start the timer.
Tap or click an empty cell to place a sun. Tap it again for a moon, and once more to clear it. Given cells do not change when you tap them.
Controls
New game on Unlimited only, starts another random puzzle at once, never the one you are on. The board and the timer start fresh.
Undo takes back your last move, one move at a time.
Hint shows a mistake first: it marks one wrong cell and, when that cell breaks a rule you can see, names the rule. On a correct board, it marks a cell you can work out next, tells you its symbol and why, and highlights the cells the reason uses. When cells linked by = and × decide it, it also explains what would go wrong with the other symbol. Hint never fills a cell for you.
Reset clears every symbol you placed and restarts the timer from zero.
Solving tips
- Finish a line. Once a row or column has three suns, its empty cells are moons, and the other way round.
- Break up pairs. Beside two equal neighbours in a line, the next cell on either side takes the opposite symbol.
- Fill the gap. When two equal symbols have one empty cell between them, that cell takes the opposite symbol.
- Follow the markers. Once one cell of an = or × pair is known, the other follows: the same symbol across =, the opposite across ×.
FAQ
Does every puzzle have one solution?
Yes. Every Tango Game puzzle has exactly one solution.
Do I need to guess?
No. Every puzzle can be solved by logic alone, one deduction at a time.
Can two rows be the same?
Yes. Two rows, or two columns, may hold exactly the same symbols in the same order, as long as every rule holds.
Do I need an account?
No. Tango Game runs in your browser. There is no account to create and nothing to install.
What is the Daily puzzle?
The Daily puzzle is the puzzle on the Tango Game home page. Once you’ve solved it, Unlimited and the Archive have more.
Is Tango Game the same as Takuzu or Binairo?
Tango Game belongs to the same family of binary puzzles as Takuzu and Binairo: you fill the grid with two symbols, every row and column holds as many of each, and no three identical symbols sit side by side in a line. What Tango Game adds are the = and × markers between cells: = joins cells that match, and × joins cells that differ.
